Iran's presidential election voting has concluded, and ballot counting is now underway. According to information from the country's Election Commission, the primary contest is between candidates Saeed Jalili and Masoud Pezeshkian. A report by Iran International on Saturday (June 29) stated that out of a total of 140,704,462 ballots counted so far, conservative candidate Masoud Pezeshkian is leading with 5,955,781 votes.

Official government statistics published by Iran's Ministry of Interior show that Saeed Jalili has received 5,560,321 votes. However, his other rival, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, garnered 1,891,385 votes, and Mostafa Pur-Mohammadi received 111,967 votes. The number of invalid votes stands at 549,000.

Iran's 14th presidential election involves a total of 58,640 polling centers, with 32,244 centers having completed the counting process thus far.

It is notable that despite plans for presidential elections in June next year according to regulations, the incident of the helicopter crash that killed President Ibrahim Raisi on May 19 led to the vacancy of the presidential position, resulting in the current election being held. Voting commenced yesterday, Friday morning local time, and will continue until 6 PM this evening.
