Hamza Choudhury is a British footballer of Bangladeshi descent, born on October 1, 1997, in Leicester, England. His father is Grenadian, while his mother is of Bangladeshi origin, with ancestral roots in Bahubal Upazila, Habiganj, Bangladesh. Hamza grew up speaking Sylheti and follows Sunni Islam.
He joined Leicester City's youth academy in 2005 and progressed through the ranks, eventually making his first-team debut in 2015. He also represented England's U-21 national team in seven matches. In addition to playing as a midfielder for Leicester City, Hamza had loan spells at Burton Albion and Watford.
In 2024, he received approval to play for the Bangladesh national football team. He obtained a Bangladeshi passport and secured FIFA's authorization. Inspired by the love from Bangladeshi football fans and support from his family, he decided to represent Bangladesh. He is currently learning the Bengali language to better connect with the country's culture and people.
